Economic Development Project Associate – 4-6m

Omnigenix is a consultancy providing support of economic development projects and support of growing technology and creative businesses.

An immediate need has arisen, on a long term project in Cheltenham, which requires some general support of the lead consultant and colleagues, to help deliver an intense and critical phase of the Golden Valley Development. As we prepare to announce the preferred bidder for this c. £400m mixed use development a significant amount of work is required to:

  • develop agreements over governance, innovation strategy and stakeholder engagement,
  • capturing opportunities and articulating for stakeholders and partners,
  • develop bids for additional funding or ancillary projects.

A 4-month part-time (2-2.5days/week) contract is available for an individual who understands the language of sustainable and inclusive economic growth and is able to work at pace and able to contribute to, and translate, complex (and occasionally wild) ideas into concise propositions.

Typical tasks:

  • Knowledge management – taking expert input and colleagues’ knowledge and applying across the project
  • Supporting partnership meetings – Organising, contributing to, capturing succinct actions and delivering output documents
  • Capturing complex, ambitious and occasionally wild, conversations and ideas then translating those in to meaningful project documents,
  • Developing innovation propositions for funding – such as related to smart city / living labs, ‘The Agency’ (combined visitor attraction, technology showcase and hands-on science centre)
  • Deputise at stakeholder and partner meetings

Likely experience:

  • Relationship management
  • Economic development (especially related to innovation ecosystems)

Ideal candidate:

  • A passion for learning ‘on the fly’ – able to apply experience but not be held back by tradition
  • Confident, flexible, creative, adaptable with a positive attitude to fast moving and ‘ideas-rich’ dialogue
  • Interested, if not passionate, in place and the opportunity that the intersection of education, business (small & large) and public sector can create, and how that is enhanced if underpinned by effective inclusion
  • Able to manage complex ideas and dialogue and elucidate succinct summaries
  • Excellent communicator: listening, speaking, writing and presentation skills
